The Texas Elite Spartans stormed back into form in Week 2, dominating the Seattle Majestics with a commanding 42-0 shutout at home. After a tough road loss in the opener, the Spartans returned to Coppell with something to prove, and they delivered with intensity, execution, and that signature ELITE grit.

Quarterback Michelle Angel bounced back in a big way, throwing for 135 yards, 2 touchdowns, and a 118.1 QB rating. Angel commanded the offense with poise, capping drives with explosive plays and spreading the ball to six different receivers. The offensive line, anchored by Tammie Moore, gave her time to operate and opened lanes in the run game all night.
But the real fireworks came from the backfield. Destanie Yarbrough exploded for 99 rushing

yards on 9 carries, scoring 3 total touchdowns, including a highlight-reel 53-yard dash to the house. She added a 48-yard receiving score for good measure. Not to be outdone, Jazmine Rambo and Ashley McBay each ripped off long runs and touchdowns of their own, with McBay also hauling in a TD through the air.
In total, the Spartans racked up 6 touchdowns, with contributions from veterans and rookies alike, reminding the league why they’ve been one of the WNFC’s most dominant programs.
The defense was simply lights out.

Seattle couldn’t get anything going thanks to an aggressive, swarming unit led by Jamie Lock (5.5 tackles, 2 TFL), Christine Jaqueth (4.5 tackles, 0.5 sack), and Deana Simmons-Guidry, who filled the stat sheet with a forced fumble, sack, fumble recovery, and 2.5 tackles for loss. Grace Wiley and Shantia Creech each snagged an interception, sealing the shutout and sending a clear message to the rest of the league.
It was a total team effort—and the Spartans showed why they’re still in the championship conversation.
Week 3 Preview: Road Test in the City of Angels
Next stop: Los Angeles.
On Saturday, April 12, the Spartans head west to take on the undefeated LA Legends (1-0) in a crucial early-season showdown.
LA comes in fresh off a dominant 31-2 win over the Oregon Ravens. Their ground game is the engine, churning out 289 rushing yards in their opener behind Meagan Curtis (128 yards, 1 TD) and Malaysia Quimby (62 yards, 1 TD). While their passing game was limited (48 total yards), they’ve shown explosive potential and a knack for capitalizing on short fields.
Defensively, the Legends were stingy—allowing just 2 points, forcing turnovers, and racking up tackles behind the line. Lauren Davis (12 tackles, 2 TFL) and Jazmin Gamble lead a physical, fast unit that flies to the ball.
Keys to Victory
To keep momentum rolling, the Spartans will need to:
Dominate the trenches. Control the line and make LA one-dimensional.
Start fast. Set the tone early, especially on the road.
Stay balanced. Use the Yarbrough-McBay-Rambo trio to wear down the defense and open up play-action for Angel.
Limit explosive runs. LA lives off big plays—gap discipline and pursuit angles will be critical.
The Legends are confident and undefeated. But they haven’t seen a defense like this—or an offense that can hit from anywhere on the field.
