Texas Elite Spartans Gold Medalist Return Home to North Texas

The United States National Women’s Tackle Football team won gold in the World Competition in early August.


Six local DFW residents competed on the team and brought back some hardware from their trip abroad.


Eight women, representing the Women's National Football Conference (WNFC) defending champions (Lewisville-based) Texas Elite Spartans were selected to compete overseas in the World Champions (Broadcast by olympics.com).


LeShaunte Bowman (Dallas), Elizabeth Jenkins (Rowlett), Rachel May (Fort Worth), Tammie Moore (Grapevine), Eshombi Singleton (Dallas), Brittany Bushman (Portsmouth), Maria Jackson (Twinsburg), and Coach Odessa Jenkins (Rowlett) participated in the US National Team.

The team has been practicing since late July and played three games in a span of nine days, beating Germany, Finland, and then Great Britain in the championship game (42-14).

The victory marks the 4th straight gold medal for Team USA.


Tournament MVP was awarded to WNFC league MVP, Texas Elite Spartans QB, Brittany Bushman.
